Monday Musings – August 2, 2010

Monday Musings is a weekly meme hosted by Should be Reading.

This week’s Musing asks:

What book tops your TBR (to be read) pile right now?Is it something you own, or something you have to borrow, or something you’ll be purchasing? Why do you want to read it so badly?

At the moment, the book that is literally on the top of the TBR pile is a non-fiction selection for the August Social Justice Challenge called Promoting Reading in Developing Countries by the International Reading Association. I am quite looking forward to getting into this one and my other Social Justice Challenge reading selections. This will be my first Social Justice Challenge; actually, come to think of it, this will be my first challenge period, so I am super excited. Other than those books, I am really, really, really looking forward to getting into Parrot and Olivier in America by Peter Carey only because it’s been long listed for the Man Booker Prize and it is the only book on the list I have acquired so far 😉

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Musing Mondays post, or share your answer in a comment here (if you don’t have a bl0g). Thanks! :D

About Robbie

Hi there, my name is Robbie Burns (no,really, that’s my name…hold the haggis jokes please) and I would like to welcome you to the Pink Sheep Cafe. I started this blog as a means of discussing books and all things literary in light of my perpetual isolation. At the time I began writing, I was living in Split, Croatia. There wasn’t much here in the way of English book clubs and I couldn’t work, so I badly needed something to help me bide my time. My partner and I have since left Croatia and returned to Canada to live in Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories. When we first moved back here, my blog writing sort of fell by the wayside, but now I seem to be back on track. I try to read and review a little bit of everything here; I think everyone can find something to their liking here. I find myself tending more towards more literary reads these days, but I also enjoy a lot of YA and children’s fiction. One of my ongoing goals is to work my way through all of the Nobel Laureates. My two most favorite authors are Timothy Findley and Halldor Laxness.

  1. That does sound like an intriguing read…I’m all for social justice!

I didn’t enter that particular challenge, but it sounds like one that’s totally engaging.

I don’t have a TBR …not really. I do have books I haven’t read yet…but I am a mood reader…it really does depend on my mood as to what I will actually read next. Here’ s mine
