Monday Musings – September 6, 2010

Monday Musings is a weekly meme hosted by MizB at Should be Reading.

If you knew you only had 30 days left to live, would books and reading still hold such a great priority in your life? Or, would you set aside your reading to do something else, spend more of your time elsewhere? What would you do, instead?

As odd as it sounds, I am pretty sure it wouldn’t effect my reading. If nothing else, I might even read more. Books bring so much joy to my life and often give me pause to reflect on my life. They inspire me to strive for the things I want in life and remind me of the things that are most important to me. If I found I only had 30 days to live I think that immediately taking refuge in books would be the best solution. Nothing could pull me out of that sort of slump and encourage me to make use of the days I had left.

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Musing Mondays post, or share your answer in a comment here (if you don’t have a bl0g). Thanks! :D

About Robbie

Hi there, my name is Robbie Burns (no,really, that’s my name…hold the haggis jokes please) and I would like to welcome you to the Pink Sheep Cafe. I started this blog as a means of discussing books and all things literary in light of my perpetual isolation. At the time I began writing, I was living in Split, Croatia. There wasn’t much here in the way of English book clubs and I couldn’t work, so I badly needed something to help me bide my time. My partner and I have since left Croatia and returned to Canada to live in Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories. When we first moved back here, my blog writing sort of fell by the wayside, but now I seem to be back on track. I try to read and review a little bit of everything here; I think everyone can find something to their liking here. I find myself tending more towards more literary reads these days, but I also enjoy a lot of YA and children’s fiction. One of my ongoing goals is to work my way through all of the Nobel Laureates. My two most favorite authors are Timothy Findley and Halldor Laxness.

  1. I have to agree…to a degree. I would want to squeeze in a trip or two, so I might have a little less time to read but like you I love to read and would not just stop, no matter what.

  2. I think that books would still be important to me, but I would make room for other things, too…if I could.

    Here’s what I wrote:

I think I would read more as well. Here’s My Monday Musing.
